Traffic Coordinators for Programming & Film Team – Several people needed to help sort and guide the back-end of programming

Submission Marketing & PR Volunteer/Interns – Several people needed to help spread the word about film submissions.  IMMEDIATE NEEDS FOR SHORT TERM

Ad Sales – Several people needed to each take an area and give local businesses our ad sales info, keep track of efforts, and follow-up.  IMMEDIATE NEEDS FOR SHORT TERM

Volunteer – Several people needed for volunteer recruitment, management and training.  IMMEDIATE NEED

Data Entry – Help inputting films, events and the festival program in the website and ticketing system. SEVERAL PEOPLE NEEDED.

Hospitality – Several people needed to help visiting filmmakers and attendees of the festival.

Social Media, Online Marketing & Outreach – Oversee online promotional efforts for films, customize outreach based on specific interest groups for each event. There is always a unique audience for each film; this team’s job is to identify that audience and get them to attend, while urging them to get out the word to others. It’s great fun if you like creatively exploring possibilities for online exposure and interaction. Most importantly, it helps filmmakers and special presenters feel appreciated and supported at the festival. Ideal candidate is self-motivated, highly-organized, reliable, detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines. Candidate must also be able to think creatively, prioritize workload and keep detailed records of outreach efforts. Ability to use a basic online Excel spreadsheet is a requirement.

Videography/Editing – **Professionals preferred – Shoot & edit PDXFF events for website and distribution.

Photography – **Professionals preferred – Shoot PDXFF events, upload photos to flickr, assistance with scheduling photographers needed.

Blogging – Attend screenings, write & post pieces for our website.

Street Teams/Local Business Outreach – Distribute catalogs & posters to local businesses, points of interest, and at events.

Ticket Sales – Assist patrons in buying tickets, training on our Agile system provided

Theater Operations – Assist in admitting patrons to venues, monitor lines and crowds, take tickets at venues, oversee guest lists and will call, assist patrons in finding seats, respond to patrons’ needs during screenings.

Event Production – Set up and break down at PDXFF events.

Merchandise – Inventory, sales, set-up/break down of merchandise. Easy training using Square credit card processing system on iPads.

Drivers – (Must have valid, unrestricted DL or CDL, and insurance) to assist with VIP transport of special guests to hotels, airports, and appearances.

Creators Spotlight: Meet Alicia J. Rose

Alicia RoseAlicia J. Rose relocated to Portland over 20 years ago. She was a founding booker at the Doug Fir venue and built a robust professional portfolio, ranging from marketing/promotions, to portrait photography, to directing music videos for the likes of Cake and Mastodon. Alongside these experiences, she steadily pieced together plans for her first web series: The Benefits of Gusbandry.

Early-bird passes are now on sale for the 2016 Portland Film Festival. The early-bird prices will end soon. The eight-day festival and filmmaker conference will be held this August 29th to September 5th.

LAST DAY TO VOTE: Best film festival in Portland

Portland publication Willamette Week has selected the Portland Film Festival as a nominee for Best Film Festival in Portland. Voting ends May 30th.

With the amount of filmmakers requesting deadline extensions, we’ve decided to extend our final deadline to May 31st at midnight for inclusion in the 2016 Portland Film Festival.

Portland Film Festival Volunteer Faire & Social

Our annual Volunteer Faire will be held on May 19th at Pro Photo Supply Event Center. Learn more about the film festival and meet the people and volunteers that make our festival one of the best in world according to MovieMaker Magazine.

Star Wars Screening & Celebration on May 4th

Portland Film Festival is hosting a celebration of Star Wars Day (May the 4th) with a program of new “Star Wars” fan films, costume contest and raffle for “Star Wars” related merchandise from the 90s, followed by a screening of “The Force Awakens.”
