WHY I VOLUNTEER: Meet Taylor

Portland Film Festival—WHY I VOLUNTEER: Meet Taylor

Meet Taylor. A talent agent during the day but an old theater and panini lover at night. She’s one of the many volunteers that help produce the Portland Film Festival. This year with the support of Comcast, we are highlighting volunteer stories leading up to the 2017 edition from October 30th to November 5th.

If you’d like to volunteer, email or meet us in person at one of our upcoming events. Find out more at our Facebook page.

What’s your first name and where are you from?
Taylor Harris, an Oregonian.
How did you hear about the festival?
My day job has been next door to PDXFF since the beginning.
Why do you volunteer?
It’s generally fun and I like to be involved as much as I can in the local film scene.
If you volunteered with the festival in the past, what was your favorite experience?
Meeting fellow film nerds.
What are you looking forward to at this year’s festival?
Seeing it play out after months of preparation and anticipation! The Halloween party should be pretty cool too.
Are you a filmmaker? If so, what are you working on now?
Not technically, but for the amount of images I take in one place I could probably make many stop motion features.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
Annie Hall – Diane Keaton in flattering menswear, Woody Allen narrating a realistic neurotic love story, and picture perfect New York stills slapped in between everything.
What’s your least favorite movie and why?
I can’t think of one specifically.
What’s your guilty pleasure or your comfort movie?
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button – I watch it every fall and fall back in love with Brad Pitt on that damn motorcycle.
Where do you read or find out about movies?
Trailers before a movie or the internet.
Where do you like to watch movies?
At an old theater.
What’s your favorite theater in Portland?
Cinemagic!
If you could cast your dream movie, what genre, cast and who would direct?
Currently I’d like a drama, starring Oscar Isaac and Clémence Poésy, and directed by Tom Ford.
If you could bring three things to a deserted island what would you bring?
A filtered straw, something to read, and a blanket. I can’t sleep without a blanket.
What kind of sandwich would you be?
A Panini. I just had a prosciutto, apple slice, and provolone panini at Living Room Theaters and I’m sticking to it… for at least 2 weeks.
Stay tuned for more volunteer profiles. Comcast presents the 2017 Portland Film Festival from October 30th to November 5th. Buy passes online at portlandfilm.org.
