What’s your first name and where are you from?
Dayan Morgan-Sylvaen; Medford, Oregon
How did you hear about the festival?
The festival approached an organization I was a part of for a sponsorship—I was the one they made the ask of. I was so excited about what the festival was doing that I decided to volunteer and I’ve done it every year since.
Why do you volunteer?
I love this community and I love seeing filmmakers getting their “babies” on screen.
If you volunteered with the festival in the past, what was your favorite experience?
Last year, before the first showing of Neil Stryker & the Tyrant of Time, the filmmakers brought out their puppets and had the puppets “walk” the red carpet. It was hilarious!
What are you looking forward to at this year’s festival?
Meeting new people and seeing familiar faces.
Are you a filmmaker? If so, what are you working on now?
I do makeup and makeup f/x.
What’s your favorite movie and why?
Baraka – it’s visually stunning.
What’s your least favorite movie and why?
Pooty Tang. Do I really need a reason?
What’s your guilty pleasure or your comfort movie?
City of Lost Children or Breakfast Club.
Where do you read or find out about movies?
During previews or online from the library.
Where do you like to watch movies?
From the comfort of my couch.
What’s your favorite theater in Portland?
Laurelhurst!
If you could cast your dream movie, what genre, cast and who would direct?
Thriller – Gary Oldman, Rosamund Pike with Hitchcock directing.
If you could bring three things to a deserted island what would you bring?
A ticket off the island?
What kind of sandwich would you be?
Caprese on a baguette – and I’d be delicious!
