Early-bird passes are now on sale for the 2018 Portland Film Festival presented by Comcast NBC Universal. The early-bird prices will end soon. Last year passes sold out in the first two weeks. Don’t miss out on the seven-day film festival held October 22-28.
The Festival screened more independent films than any other film festival in the state last year including more independent features and shorts than any single theater in Oregon. With over 1900 visiting filmmakers, cast and crew representing their films to the over 21k attending audience, it’s no wonder that MovieMaker Magazine named the Portland Film Festival one of the “Top 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World.”
This year, the Festival will screen over 150 films and host over 30 workshops including education specifically for screenwriting, acting and more. The Portland Mayor has declared Portland as “the city of independent film” during the week-long festival, and with support from the Oregon Governor’s Office of Film, Oregon Film, OMPA, IATSE, SAG AFTRA, IATSE, Boys & Girls Club of Portland and other local organizations, this year’s festival will surely not be one to miss.
The Portland Film Festival hub and film screenings will be located at Custom Blocks, a new creative office space located at the heart of the Central Eastside at SE 10th Ave & Main. The space will be transformed into a unique theater and event space.
“As a non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing filmmakers and celebrating the power of a good story, we are proud to bring a robust and diverse community of independent voices to the Festival this year,” said Josh Leake, Portland Film Festival founder and executive director. “Debuting this year – thanks to Comcast’s support – is our LATINX programming that features stories and movies from the Latino community.”
The complete Festival line-up will be released the first week of October.
