Beast

• What we’ll do
Grab a drink and let’s go see a movie! Bring friends and some good conversation to discuss the film, its characters, the production and more. The Living Room Theater is the location of our weekly Monday meetup. Most movies they play are independent, foreign, artistic with an occasional blockbuster.

We meet Tuesday evenings to take advantage of their $6 Merry Movie special. They have weekday showings of all their movies in the 7:00 hour, and those are the showings we’re shooting for. If you see something coming up there that you’d like to recommend as our Living Room movie of the week, message me or post it on the board by Wednesday the previous week

Beast

Moll is 27 and still living at home, stifled by the small island community around her and too beholden to her family to break away. When she meets Pascal, a free-spirited stranger, a whole new world opens up to her and she begins to feel alive for the first time, falling madly in love. Finally breaking free from her family, Moll moves in with Pascal to start a new life. But when he is arrested as the key suspect in a series of brutal murders, she is left isolated and afraid. Choosing to stand with him against the suspicions of the community, Moll finds herself forced to make choices that will impact her life forever.

“Bathed in a shadowy beauty and slippery psychological atmosphere, “Beast” soars on Ms. Buckley’s increasingly animalistic performance.”
Jeannette Catsoulis – THE NEW YORK TIMES

“Pearce takes his time laying out his sleeping-with-the-enemy tale, but his stinginess with plot lends the film an vice-tightening air of mystery that suits it.”
Chris Nashawaty – ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

“BEAST walks the line between taut psychological thriller and doomed genre romance, smartly remaining laser-focused on Moll and her fraying sanity.”
Jude Dry – INDIEWIRE

“Pearce has some mildly wicked fun with his scenario, winking as he stages such routine thriller-flick maneuvers as having the lights suddenly cut out.”
Mark Jenkins – NPR

“Pearce, in his feature directing debut, proves himself a solid craftsman, with a gift for giving even derivative story elements a nerve-jangling tweak.”
Justin Chang – LOS ANGELES TIMES
